Humic acids are high-molecular-weight organic compounds formed from the natural decomposition of organic matter over geological time, concentrated in deposits of leonardite (oxidised lignite) and similar materials. When applied to soil or through irrigation, humic acids improve soil cation exchange capacity (CEC), promote aggregation of soil particles to improve structure and aeration, chelate micronutrients making them more plant-available, and stimulate soil microbial activity. These properties are particularly valuable in degraded, compacted, or over-fertilized soils where chemical fertility alone does not support optimal crop performance.

Fulvic acid — the lower-molecular-weight fraction of humic substances — is highly water-soluble and moves freely through soil and plant membranes, making it effective in foliar applications and fertigation systems. Fulvic acid chelates and transports micronutrients across leaf cuticles and root cell membranes, enhancing the efficacy of foliar micronutrient sprays and in-crop nutrient programs.

Commercial humic acid products are typically characterised by their humic acid content (50–85%), fulvic acid content (5–20%), potassium content (where potassium humate is the form), solubility, and pH. We source from leonardite-based extraction facilities with established quality control systems. Each batch is supplied with a COA specifying humic acid content by dry weight, fulvic acid content, pH, solubility, and moisture.

For soil application programs, potassium humate powder or WDG with ≥ 60–70% humic acid is typical. For drip fertigation or foliar programs, liquid humate concentrates (10–15% humic acid) or high-fulvic soluble grades are more appropriate. We can advise on grade selection based on your application method, soil type, and crop program.

What is the MOQ for humic acid products?

Powder and granule grades can ship LCL (part-container load) or as full 20ft containers (FCL) of roughly 20–25 MT. Liquid humate in IBC totes starts from approximately 5–10 MT. We can sometimes accommodate smaller trial quantities for new buyers. Please share your grade preference, volume, and destination when enquiring.

What origins do you source humic acid from?

We source primarily from Chinese leonardite-based extraction facilities, which produce the majority of the world's traded humic acid. European sources (e.g. from Spanish and German leonardite deposits) are available for buyers requiring European-origin documentation. North American supply is available subject to production schedules.

Is humic acid classified as an organic fertilizer?

Classification depends on destination regulations. In many jurisdictions humic acid products are registered as soil conditioners, biostimulants, or organic fertilizer amendments. Some countries require specific registration for humic acid products before import. Buyers should confirm the applicable regulatory classification in their destination market.

Can inspection be arranged for humic acid shipments?

Yes. SGS or Intertek inspection can be arranged, covering quantity survey, sampling, and dispatch of samples to an accredited laboratory for humic acid, fulvic acid, moisture, pH, and K₂O analysis. Inspection is especially recommended for buyers sourcing for the first time from a new origin or producer.
