MAP 12-61-0 contains 12% nitrogen and 61% P₂O₅, making it the highest-phosphorus granular fertilizer available in standard international trade. Its acidifying soil pH effect (compared to DAP's alkaline effect) makes MAP preferred for calcareous, alkaline, and high-pH soils where phosphate availability is limited. This agronomic advantage drives significant MAP demand in Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian markets with high-pH irrigated soils.

MAP is used as a basal phosphate source for wheat, corn, cotton, and vegetables in alkaline soil conditions. It is also a primary raw material for water-soluble fertilizer production, where technical-grade MAP is dissolved and formulated into liquid or crystalline fertilizer products. MAP is compatible with most granular fertilizers in bulk blending and does not promote volatilisation.

What is the difference between MAP and DAP?

MAP (12-61-0) has higher phosphorus (61% P₂O₅) and lower nitrogen (12%) than DAP (18-46-0). MAP acidifies soil pH slightly, making it preferable for high-pH soils. DAP has a near-neutral to mildly alkaline effect. Both are used as basal phosphate sources, but MAP is preferred in alkaline-soil environments and for water-soluble applications.

Is MAP suitable for drip irrigation?

Granular MAP can be dissolved for fertigation, but technical-grade or fully water-soluble MAP is used for drip irrigation systems to prevent filter clogging. We can supply granular MAP for standard applications and water-soluble MAP grades for fertigation programs. Please specify your application when enquiring.
